1. Write a clear brief
A useful prompt describes the goal, relevant context, constraints and desired output format. Example: “Turn these public product features into three factual bullet points for beginners. Use only the supplied information. Flag missing information.”
Exercise: Choose a recurring writing task. Note the audience, source material and two quality criteria. Turn them into a prompt.
Self-check: Could another person understand the result you expect? If not, add an example or a specific format.
