Cloud & Azure fundamentals

Azure fundamentals for beginners: understand cloud models, plan identities and access, estimate costs and create first resources in a hands-on lab.

This training gives you the foundations of cloud computing and Microsoft Azure, and it is aimed at beginners from IT, business departments and project management. You learn the difference between IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, understand regions, subscriptions and resource groups and plan access with Microsoft Entra ID and role-based access control. You also estimate costs and create first resources in a hands-on lab. That lets you contribute to cloud projects in your company with confidence.

Your training in detail

Who is it for?
Beginners from IT, business departments, sales and project management who want to understand Azure or prepare for the AZ-900 exam.
Prerequisites
A basic understanding of networks, servers and data storage helps but is not required. The lab needs an Azure account, which we clarify beforehand.
Format & planning
Suggested format: 2 days (about 7 hours each) live online or on site by arrangement. Scope depends on prior knowledge.

Agenda: from understanding to application

Our independently developed agenda proposal. Focus areas, lab environment and scope are agreed before booking.

  1. Cloud concepts: shared responsibility, elasticity, high availability and the differences between IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.

  2. Azure architecture: regions, availability zones, subscriptions, management groups and resource groups.

  3. Core services: virtual machines, App Service, storage accounts, virtual networks and database services at a glance.

  4. Identity and access: Microsoft Entra ID, multi-factor authentication, Conditional Access and Azure RBAC.

  5. Cost and governance: pricing calculator, Cost Management, budgets, tags, Azure Policy and resource locks.

  6. Hands-on lab in the Azure portal with a resource group, virtual machine, storage account, role assignment and clean-up.

PRACTICE & TRANSFER

Suggested exercise: Plan structure, roles and a monthly budget in Azure for a small web project and set up the resource group, tags and a budget alert.

Frequently asked questions

Does the training prepare me for the AZ-900 exam?

The content covers the exam's topic areas: cloud concepts, Azure architecture and services, and management and governance. The training does not replace practising with sample questions yourself. You book the exam separately with Microsoft, and the fee is only included if the offer confirms it.

Do I need programming skills for Azure fundamentals?

No. In the lab you work with the Azure portal interface, not with code. A basic understanding of servers, networks and storage helps. Anyone who later wants to use infrastructure as code, scripts or containers needs further training for that.

Does the hands-on lab incur Azure costs?

That depends on the access used. Lab resources are kept small and deleted at the end so no follow-on costs arise. Whether you use your own subscription, a trial account or provided access is clarified before the session. In the course you also learn to set up budgets and alerts.

Does Cloud & Azure fundamentals include a certificate?

The Microsoft exam AZ-900 (Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals) relates to this topic. Attending alone awards no vendor certification. Exam fees and Azure licences are only included if confirmed in the offer.
