  6. Operations: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics with KQL, alert rules, action groups, Azure Backup and cost control through budgets.

PRACTICE & TRANSFER

Suggested exercise: You deploy a network with a virtual machine using a Bicep file, assign a role to a group and set up an alert for high CPU load.

Frequently asked questions

What prior knowledge do I need for Azure administration?

You should know operating systems, networking basics such as IP addresses and DNS, and virtualisation. Some experience with PowerShell or the command line helps. You do not need to know Azure itself, as basic terms such as subscription and resource group are introduced in the course.

What is the difference between Azure RBAC and Microsoft Entra ID roles?

Azure RBAC governs access to Azure resources such as VMs or storage accounts at management group, subscription, resource group or resource level. Entra ID roles control the administration of the directory itself, such as creating users or changing policies. They complement each other but do not automatically overlap.

Portal, CLI or Bicep: which should I work with?

The portal suits exploring and one-off changes. CLI and PowerShell automate recurring tasks. Bicep describes the desired infrastructure declaratively, so environments are created identically and can be versioned. In operations Bicep usually pays off, complemented by scripts for administrative tasks.

Does Azure administration include a certificate?

The related Microsoft exam is AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate). Exam fees and licences are only included if confirmed in the offer. Attending alone does not award a vendor certification.
