In this DevOps course you learn to build pipelines, automate tests and deliver software safely. It is aimed at developers, administrators and team leaders who want to release faster and with less manual work. You work with Git workflows, CI/CD using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, container builds, test automation, infrastructure as code and deployment strategies such as blue-green and canary. You also look at metrics such as the DORA measures to make the success of your pipeline measurable.
What you’ll take away.
- Set up a Git workflow with branches, pull requests and protected main branches
- Build a CI pipeline with build, tests and artefacts in GitHub Actions or GitLab CI
- Integrate unit, integration and security tests into the pipeline and evaluate the results
- Plan deployments with rolling, blue-green and canary strategies and define rollback paths
- Measure delivery performance with the DORA metrics and identify bottlenecks
Your training in detail
- Who is it for?
- Developers, administrators, quality leads and team leaders who want to automate and improve delivery.
- Prerequisites
- Basic knowledge of Git and the command line plus experience in software development or operations. Container knowledge is helpful.
- Format & planning
- Suggested format: 3 days live online or on site. Scope depends on prior knowledge.
Agenda: from understanding to application
Our independently developed agenda proposal. Focus areas, lab environment and scope are agreed before booking.
Culture and metrics: collaboration between development and operations, flow optimisation and the five DORA metrics such as lead time and change fail rate.
Version control: branching models such as trunk-based development, pull requests, code review, branch protection and commit conventions.
Continuous integration: workflows in GitHub Actions or .gitlab-ci.yml, runners, jobs, caches, artefacts and matrix builds.
Test automation: the test pyramid, unit and integration tests, static analysis, dependency checks and protecting secrets in pipelines.
Continuous delivery: building and publishing container images, environments, approvals, infrastructure as code with Terraform and configuration management.
Deployment and operations: rolling, blue-green, canary, feature flags, rollbacks, post-release monitoring and incident reviews.
Suggested exercise: You build a pipeline for a small web application that tests on every pull request, creates a container image and deploys to a test environment after approval.
Exams, licences & credentials
The course is vendor-neutral and does not prepare for a specific exam. Vendors such as cloud providers or platform operators have their own DevOps certifications. Fees are only included if confirmed in the offer. Attending alone does not award a certification.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between CI and CD?
Continuous integration merges changes frequently and checks them automatically through build and tests. Continuous delivery keeps every verified change releasable, while continuous deployment pushes it to production without manual approval. Which level fits depends on risk, tests and trust within the team.
GitHub Actions or GitLab CI: which suits us?
Both define pipelines in YAML with jobs and runners. Usually the deciding factor is where your code lives, since native integration simplifies permissions, review and delivery. The concepts transfer, so you can reuse what you learn if you switch. In the course we can focus on your system.
Which metrics show whether our DevOps process works?
The DORA metrics are an established approach: change lead time, deployment frequency, failed deployment recovery time, change fail rate and deployment rework rate. They measure speed and stability together. They serve as guidance only when you compare them over time and within a team.
Does DevOps & CI/CD include a certificate?
The course is vendor-neutral and does not prepare for a specific exam. Vendors such as cloud providers or platform operators have their own DevOps certifications. Fees are only included if confirmed in the offer. Attending alone does not award a certification.
