After this course, you can write your own VBA macros for tasks you currently repeat by hand, such as cleaning data, formatting reports or creating worksheets. You understand how Excel structures its objects, can read recorded code and can find errors yourself in debug mode. You also practise handling macro files safely. The course suits you if you know Excel well, have never programmed and regularly repeat the same steps.
What you’ll take away.
- Read recorded macros, clean them up and adapt them with purpose
- Use the Excel object model with its objects, properties and methods
- Use variables, branches and loops for your own routines
- Find and fix errors with breakpoints and watches in the editor
- Save and share macro files safely

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know how to program?
No. Good Excel skills are enough. You start with the macro recorder and learn step by step to write the code yourself.
When is a macro worth the effort?
Mainly for tasks that come up often and always in the same way. You also check whether an Excel feature or a template would solve the problem more simply.
Does VBA work in Excel for the web?
No. In Excel for the web you cannot create, run or edit VBA macros, so you need a desktop version of Excel for the course.
Does VBA for Microsoft Excel: Writing Macros and Automating Tasks include a certificate?
This course does not prepare you for a Microsoft certification exam. If your offer names an exam, the exam and its fees are included only if the offer confirms this. This is not an official vendor course unless the offer says so.
