DP-700: Implementing Data Engineering Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric

Data engineering in Microsoft Fabric: load, transform, secure and monitor batch and streaming data, in preparation for DP-700.

After this course you can build data processes in Microsoft Fabric from source through to analysis: you load batch and streaming data, transform it with PySpark, SQL and KQL, control the flow with pipelines and find errors and bottlenecks in operation. The training suits you if you work with SQL as a data engineer or analytics engineer, want to use Fabric in production and are preparing for the DP-700 exam.

What you’ll take away.

  • Configure Fabric workspaces and roll out changes through deployment pipelines
  • Design full and incremental load processes for batch data
  • Transform data using PySpark, SQL and KQL
  • Process streaming data with eventstreams and Spark Structured Streaming
  • Secure access, resolve errors and optimise lakehouse and warehouse performance

Your training in detail

Who is it for?
Data engineers and analytics engineers who build data solutions on Microsoft Fabric or are moving them there.
Prerequisites
You should already process data with SQL and have some experience with PySpark or KQL. You should know loading patterns and data architectures from practice.
Format & planning
Standard length: 4 training days. A different length can be arranged for companies.

Agenda: from understanding to application

Our independently developed agenda proposal. Focus areas, lab environment and scope are agreed before booking.

  1. Workspaces, version control and deployment pipelines

  2. Security and governance at workspace, item and data level

  3. Orchestrating processes with pipelines and notebooks

  4. Loading batch data: shortcuts, mirroring and transformation

  5. Streaming with eventstreams, Spark and KQL

  6. Monitoring and troubleshooting Fabric items

  7. Optimising the lakehouse, warehouse and Spark

PRACTICE & TRANSFER

You build a pipeline that loads data incrementally into a lakehouse, prepares it with PySpark for a dimensional model and is monitored with alerts. You also deal with late-arriving data.
