This JavaScript training teaches the language from variables and functions through promises, modules and browser events, then adds TypeScript for safer types. It suits beginners with a little programming experience, admins who write scripts, and teams moving from ad hoc script code to checked code. You work through small tasks, learn to read error messages methodically and finish with a small application that loads and displays data from an API.
What you’ll take away.
- Use variables, data types, functions and control flow in modern JavaScript with confidence
- Process arrays and objects with map, filter, reduce and destructuring
- Write asynchronous code with promises, async/await and fetch, and handle errors
- Read, change and drive the DOM through events
- Apply types, interfaces and generics in TypeScript and configure the compiler
Your training in detail
- Who is it for?
- Beginners with light programming experience, administrators who need scripting skills and development teams introducing TypeScript.
- Prerequisites
- Comfortable use of a computer and text editor. Basic HTML helps but is not required.
- Format & planning
- Suggested format: 3 days live online or on site. Scope depends on prior knowledge.
Agenda: from understanding to application
Our independently developed agenda proposal. Focus areas, lab environment and scope are agreed before booking.
Language core: let and const, data types, equality, functions, closures and handling this in arrow functions.
Collections: arrays, Map and Set, objects, the spread operator, destructuring and iterators.
Asynchrony: the event loop, promises, async/await, fetch and error handling with try/catch.
Browser and DOM: selectors, events, forms, localStorage and debugging in the developer tools.
Modules and tooling: ES modules, npm, Node.js basics, ESLint and Prettier.
TypeScript: basic types, interfaces, union types, generics, narrowing and tsconfig.json.
Suggested exercise: build a small task list in the browser that loads entries from a public test API, stores them locally and is then secured with TypeScript types.
Exams, licences & credentials
There is no standard vendor exam for JavaScript or TypeScript that this training directly prepares for. Attending alone awards no vendor certification. A certificate of attendance is clarified in the offer.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need JavaScript knowledge before TypeScript?
Yes. The TypeScript handbook assumes basic JavaScript, because TypeScript only adds a type system on top of the language. The training therefore covers functions, objects and asynchrony first and introduces types afterwards. If you already write JavaScript, we can move through the first part more quickly.
What is JavaScript used for outside the browser?
With Node.js, JavaScript runs on servers and in the command line, for example for build scripts, automation and APIs. The training touches Node.js and npm so you can install packages and run scripts. Deeper backend development is a separate topic and can be added on request.
Is TypeScript worth it for small projects?
Often, yes. The compiler reports typos and wrong data types before the code runs, and editors give better suggestions. For short one-off scripts the configuration effort can outweigh the benefit. In the training we compare both on an example close to your work, so you can decide for your team.
Does JavaScript & TypeScript include a certificate?
There is no standard vendor exam for JavaScript or TypeScript that this training directly prepares for. Attending alone awards no vendor certification. A certificate of attendance is clarified in the offer.
