This IT project management training shows you how to plan a project from brief to closure, steer risks and resources and communicate clearly with stakeholders. It is aimed at emerging project managers, team leads and specialists taking charge of an IT initiative for the first time. You create a project brief, work breakdown structure and risk register, choose between classic and agile approaches and practise status reports and conversations about delays.
What you’ll take away.
- Write a project brief with goal, scope, out-of-scope items and success criteria
- Create a work breakdown structure and derive schedule and effort from it
- Assess risks, track them in a risk register and plan responses
- Analyse stakeholders and define communication and reporting
- Select a classic, agile or hybrid approach for an initiative with reasons

Frequently asked questions
Classic or agile project management: which fits?
Classic fits when scope, date and budget are fixed early, for example in infrastructure migrations. Agile fits unclear requirements and frequent feedback. Many IT initiatives mix both. The training gives you criteria to justify the choice for your project.
How do I deal with risks in IT projects?
Gather risks early, score them by likelihood and impact, name an owner and define responses. Review the register regularly, not just at the start. We practise this on a sample project, including how to report it to the steering committee.
Do I need project management software?
Not for learning. Structure, planning and communication work at first with spreadsheets and boards. Tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps or Microsoft Project help with larger initiatives. We show the concepts tool-independently and can use a tool from your team as an example.
Does IT project management include a certificate?
Related external qualifications include PMP from the Project Management Institute or PRINCE2 Foundation. The training is not a focused exam preparation unless agreed. Fees and licences are only included if confirmed in the offer. Attending alone awards no certification.
