In this SharePoint training you learn to set up sites, libraries and permissions so content stays findable and access stays traceable, and it is aimed at site owners, team leads and administrators in small environments. You plan an information architecture, use metadata instead of deep folders, assign rights through groups and set up simple document processes with approvals. The training covers SharePoint in Microsoft 365, not on-premises SharePoint Server.
What you’ll take away.
- Plan an information architecture with communication sites, team sites and hubs
- Design libraries with metadata, views and content types instead of deep folders
- Assign permissions through groups and avoid unique permissions where possible
- Understand and control external sharing at organisation and site level
- Design a document process with approval, versioning and retention

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SharePoint and Teams?
Teams is the interface for chat, meetings and collaboration. A team's files live in a SharePoint site that belongs to it automatically. SharePoint itself also suits intranet pages, document management and processes, even without a team. In the course you see how the two connect.
Folders or metadata: which is better in SharePoint?
A few folders give rough order, while metadata such as project, document type or status makes content findable through views and filters without copies. Deep folder trees complicate permissions and path lengths. A mix is usually sensible, which you develop in the course for your use case.
Does the training also apply to SharePoint Server in our own data centre?
No, it covers SharePoint in Microsoft 365. Many concepts such as sites, libraries and permissions resemble the on-premises version, but administration, features and updates differ considerably. If you run SharePoint Server, contact us and we will clarify whether an adapted format is possible.
Does SharePoint & collaboration include a certificate?
We do not promise a specific vendor exam because Microsoft's exam catalogue changes; current exams are listed on Microsoft Learn. Attending alone awards no vendor certification. Exam fees and licences are only included if confirmed in the offer.
